marines do cry

Dear Bethany,

As this is my very first post, I thought I would take this opportunity to say a few things.

As I continue my training for my planned deployment later this year, it goes without saying that we have spent a considerable amount of time apart. In that time, I have had ample opportunity to think about the past five years; that time in which I've been privileged to have you in my life. As I reflect, here are a few things that have come to mind:

I love it when you call me while on your way home from work, excited about your day, and you say “heeeey baby!!”

I love it when you sit on the couch next to me after a long day and fall asleep on my shoulder.

I love it when you wake up early on a weekend morning and make ham, egg and cheese sandwiches (and bring them to me despite the fact that I’m usually still a sleep).

But most importantly, as our [infrequent] weekends together come to an end as they often do, I adore it when I look into your eyes just prior to you (or I) pulling out of the driveway, as for those few seconds I get to see into your heart. In that brief moment in time, it becomes clear as day that our commitment to each other is once again confirmed; we have just said “I do” to each other without ever saying word. Your face says it all…and I just cringe knowing I have to go another week (or longer) before I get to see you again.

There isn’t a day that goes by, Bethany, that I don’t stop to think how blessed I am to call you my wife, my companion…my best friend.

You are the only woman I have ever loved...you are the only one for me.

With everlasting love and commitment,

Your husband

Awwww! Thanks for sharing this with us! It's always a privilege to witness such love. I don't know him, but he's a keeper in my book! =)

He's a keeper! :-) What an awesome letter to treasure. I could already see your grandkids gather around to read these things you wrote each other and thank God that true Love is still possible and it exists.
